What's New for the Nissan LEAF On the Hartford Area Roads?

The short answer is, just about everything except the name. The new LEAF gets improved power, improved range, updated styling, and new technologies. EVs are becoming more and more mainstream, and with a boost to power and range, the new Nissan LEAF makes a strong case for going electric. Especially when you consider just how handsome it is, too!

What Does Power Look Like in the New Nissan LEAF?

For the new Nissan LEAF, the e-powertrain offers 38% more power than the previous-generation LEAF models, and torque has been improved by 26%, bringing it to a power output of 147 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. That means acceleration is vastly improved, too. Moreover, the new LEAF has received a new lithium-ion battery that boosts range to an estimated-150 miles per charge*. So, say goodbye to range anxiety for good.

Tell Me About the Tech:

  • ProPILOTâ„¢ Assist: Nissan ProPILOTâ„¢ Assist functions as a single-lane driving assistant. When on, it automatically monitors and controls your following distance to the vehicle in front of you, using your own preset speed. It uses lane markings to keep you within the bounds of your lane, and if the vehicle in front of you stops short, the ProPILOTâ„¢ Assist can apply your brakes for you, even bringing the vehicle to a full stop. Once traffic begins to flow again, the system brings you safely back up to speed with a tap of the accelerator to re-engage the system.
  • e-Pedal: Another new tech feature is the Nissan e-Pedal, meant to reduce the stress of driving. The e-Pedal eliminates the split between accelerator and brake pedal by combining them into one. You press on the pedal to accelerate as usual, but when you ease up on the pedal, the brakes engage slightly, and when you let off the pedal, the brake will bring the LEAF to a smooth stop. This means you don't have to move your foot from one pedal to the other during stop-and-go driving, relieving a little pressure behind the wheel and making the whole experience more streamlined and enjoyable.
  • Nissan Intelligent Safety Shield Technologies: In addition to the above-mentioned tech, the new LEAF also offers advanced safety tech, including the following: Intelligent Lane Intervention, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.
